Our story began in 1999 when my mum Dorothy opened ‘Gift Horse Gallery’ alongside our family business – Horse and Jockey hotel. Dorothy had oodles of experience in retail and was becoming interested in something more refined and beautiful than the norm. The Gallery began as a collection of interesting Irish art, beautiful ceramics and craft. Over the years this evolved into a wider collection of gift, homeware and lifestyle.

I came back from my travels and joined her there in 2010. A year later my apprenticeship was up and The Gift Horse in Kilkenny was born! Since then we’ve worked together gathering some very talented suppliers whose work is often with us exclusively. We have gathered a loyal customer base – a mix of the country enthusiast and the design-led shopper and thanks to this we continue to buy what we love. We travel home and abroad regularly sourcing interesting and beautiful stock.
